Chess Club

Chess Club is available to all Runyon students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Students can learn how to play Chess or play a challenging game with a friend. This program is free.

Permission slip required and will be available in OCTOBER.

Chess club is open to all Runyon students. The club is intended to introduce the great game of chess and to facilitate students finding other students with the same or better skill level. Students wishing advance lessons in chess should find a qualified chess instructor. The following link will point you in the right direction.

Touch move- You touch a piece you have to move it.
Limit talking during a game
Chess is a slow game
Announcing check is not required
Only pawns can promote (change to a queen)
Checkmate the king to win
Good sportsmanship
