The purpose of the club is to provide an enrichment opportunity for fourth and fifth grade students who are exceptional spellers and would enjoy additional challenge in spelling.

The Spelling Club will practice spelling words and prepare for the Runyon Elementary School Spelling Bee. The student who places first, second, and third at this Bee will attend, along with an alternate, the District Bee should one of the three students be unable to attend.

Runyon's Spelling Club is sponsored by Mrs. Wendy Erickson, Ms. Sara MacDonald, and Ms. Kelly Thiel. The meetings will be held the second and fourth Tuesdays after school from 3:10 to 4:30 p.m. in her room beginning November 8th. Students must plan to attend every meeting. Space is limited to the first twenty-five fourth and fifth grade students who return a permission slip.

The Spelling Club members have an opportunity to participate in the school Spelling Bee in February.
