On October 24th, four teams of students from Englewood, Sheridan, and LPS competed in the first round of Cyberpatriot here at EPIC. This four hour competition challenges students to think like cybersecurity professionals - identifying vulnerabilities, completing digital forensics tasks, and repairing systems compromised by hackers.

Students were put into groups, half representing the public and half representing Municipalities that were hoping to have bond work completed. Future Educators had the most exciting, inspiring, committed, grateful, intriguing (these were their words) day! Our ESC opened their doors and offices to create an EPIC day of learning. Students learned from 8 different departments in order to answer the following questions: who makes decisions and educational systems? In what ways do all school employees contribute to the governance and culture of a school? Of a district? In what ways does the district office staff influence the schools? Students participated in conversations with our school board, superintendent, chief information officer, chief operations officer, deputy superintendent, assistant superintendent of human resources , chief financial officer, and chief communications officer.! #thisisEPIC

High school students are actively engaged in a sports medicine or athletic training classroom. Multiple students, diverse in gender and appearance, work in small groups at treatment tables practicing taping, stretching, and using equipment like resistance bands and TENS units on each other’s legs. The room contains various medical and athletic supplies including rolls of tape, anatomical models, posters, and large exercise balls mounted on the wall. The environment is bright and hands-on, emphasizing career-based learning in health sciences.

A big thank you to Donor Alliance for bringing the Transplantation Science program to our medical terminology class! Students learned about the process of organ transplantation, interacted with real human organs, and applied medical vocabulary to the real world science of organ and tissue transplantation.
